New fence

It's important to have a stern foreman in these types of projects.

Fence lumber waiting in the garage. First step was painting post bottoms with sealant.

Digging post holes along the string line marking where we want the fence.

The string line also helps orient the posts so they're all parallel.

The row of posts installed. Used quick-set concrete so didn't have to frame up posts.

Cutting and predrilling screw-holes in the fence rails.

Rails screwed onto the posts (checking level before screwing).

Did all the rails first, for no real reason...

100_3133.JPG

The slats were nailed onto the rails, but predrilled to avoid splitting.

Putting slats on, checking level every several slats.

Another sequence of slats.

All the slats on...

And then finished off with the cover rails.

This end of the fence was on a slope so we stair-stepped it.

The rest was still slightly sloped but we kept the fence level. Fencepost caps come next.
